"Too dry and brittle, possibly spoiled" 2010-02-26
By Myles Y. Uyema
Our dogs normally love these treats. The most recent shipment from Amazon came to us dry, brittle, and almost powdery. Despite begging us for treats, when we gave them these, they sniffed, gave an experimental lick, and snubbed them!

We won't be purchasing these treats from any online retailer anymore.
The ability to inspect the chicken treats before we purchase is well worth the additional cost at a local store.
Serial numbers printed on our 'bad' batch: Y245F2105

"Excellent Price!" 2009-11-20
By M. Thompson (NY, USA)
This is an amazingly low price for a pack of six! I normally purchase these treats - which are the only ones my Yorkie likes (loves) - at the local pet supply store...at more than $7 a pack! And, it was even more reasonable with "Subscribe and Save." Thanks, Amazon!

My dogs love these treats! It's great to have a healthy choice to give them.

"Most is Well that's Dogswell" 2009-08-13
By Jean K. Mansen
I've tried all the Dogswell products and my three mixed breed Malamutes like most of the products okay. They are less thrilled with the beef products than the chicken ones, which is odd, as they prefer most other brands' beef treats to the chicken counterparts. Happy Hips and Mellow Mutt seem to be their favorites, but they are fickle when it comes to this brand.

What I like is that the product is manufactured under fairly stricy guidelines and with inspections so that while it is still Chinese Chicken, it is manufactured closer to US standards than many other similar products. You pay for this - but I love my dogs and I want them to be healthy and not exposed to too many frightening food stuffs (they find enough terrible things to ingest on their own).

On balance, I think that this is one of the better chicken strip treats out there now. My dogs haven't become ill eating it and my vet says good things about it!

"One of my dog's favorites" 2009-07-13

By Chicago Book Addict (Chicago, IL)
My dog is crazy about these chicken breast strips. He can be a little finicky when it comes to his food and treats but will never turn down one of these. Sometimes I'll give him a whole strip at once (although these definitely are not something that take my dog a long time to chew and he wolfs them down pretty quickly) or I will break up into smaller pieces to use for training or to fill his Everlasting Treat Ball Large. They have a very strong scent and are very desirable to him so they make his treat balls and other treat filled toys extra appealing. The only thing I do not care for with this treat is that they are made in China. Given the recent health scare with dog food I would prefer if they were made domestically but so far my dog is doing very well with these treats as part of his diet. Highly recommended.

"Best bone EVER (according to my Airedale)" 2010-08-18
By C. hillman
My Airedale is a power chewer. This bone satisfies her desire to naw on things when she has the urge. We have given her these type of Nylabone chew bones for 4 years (since she was a pup) and only now is the vet recommending we have her teeth cleaned. They last approximately one month for her so I stock up when the price is right.

"durable" 2010-07-24
By xenofan (Kansas, USA)
My little dachshund/maltese mix has destroyed many of the chew toys I have brought for her to gnaw at. Gladly, so far, this product has withstood her eager efforts to chew it to pieces (and she's had it for about two weeks now). Until I brought her the nylabone dinosaur a few days back, this was her favorite chew toy - now it's her second favorite.

I prefer offering my dog nylabone products to chew, rather than a hard bone because I believe they are safer for her. I appreciate not having to worry that she might eat small pieces that might cause her a stomach upset or worse. The product does not leave a mess of little pieces all over the floor after she's been chewing on it. Something to watch for - when I first gave my dog this toy, after she'd had it for about an hour, she chewed one of the edges into a sharp point and caught her mouth on it. It made her bleed a little. To ensure the toy remained safe, we filed the sharp edge away and gave it back to her. We have had no problems with the toy since then.

I am going to give the Nylabone Pro Action Advanced K-9 Dental Device - Medium three stars for two reasons: Firstly, because the edge became sharp and cut her slightly, and secondly because my dog doesn't really seem to enjoy gnawing at the middle (orange) portion of the toy. She likes the nylabone dinosaur much more, so when she needs something new to chew on, I will buy her another one of those instead.

Got this for free through a promo in the 4lb size. My Cavalier seems to like it. Ingredients are definitely a notch above your typical supermarket fare like Pedigree and Kibbles N Bits. Has good range of probiotics. The 26lb size is a better value. Will use this in a rotation with Taste of the Wild. Recommended.

"All my dogs love it" 2010-09-02
By Robert F. Davis (Brooklyn Park, MN)
My dogs enjoy this food. It has a good, fresh smell. Kibble size is appropriate for all dog sizes. Ingredients read nice and they work well in conjunction with my dog's digestion. The Blue Buffalo Adult Chicken and Brown Rice recipe is in my rotation of processed dog foods.

My dogs are not fed kibble exclusively. They also get raw meaty bones *uncooked* and green tripe for support of periodontal health, which in turns saves money by not having to go to the vet for annual teeth cleanings!

"My dogs were VERY unhappy." 2010-08-31
By Aldhelm
This dog food sounded terrific. I read all about it and thought that I would get some for my girls (a terrier mix and a spaniel mix). After all, I want only the best for them, and the ingredients sound fantastic. The problem is that my girls HATED it! I tried everything. First I mixed it with their old food, but they ate around the Blue, eating only the old food and leaving the Blue behind. Then I tried mixing it with moist food, but they ate only the moist. I tried mixing it with cheese, and they ate only the cheese. I wondered if, just maybe, they were unsure about what to do with the mixtures, so I cleaned their bowls and gave them only Blue. They still wouldn't eat it.

Let me be clear about that: they had 24 hours of just the Blue, and they didn't eat any. Given the choice between starving and eating Blue, my girls chose to go hungry.

Maybe my girls are just odd. Maybe they were uncomfortable with change. I don't know how to explain it, but the fact is that my two dogs detested the Blue. We wound up throwing it away, which is sad.

"best dry dog food out there" 2010-08-30
By cory
my dog and my mother's dog absolutely love this food. it is all natural without all the major by products that most dry dog foods contain. we also use the can food. we used to use science diet dry dog food but this is so much better for your dog. i would highly recommend this brand name let alone this one product to everyone for any kind of animal because they do make food for cats, etc.

"Thumbs-Up from Our Dog, and From Her Owners Who Have to Clean up After Her!" 2010-07-11
By Gilgamesh (New Jersey)
We try out new foods occasionally, but tend to come back to Blue Buffalo Adult Dog Dry Food, Chicken and Rice Recipe.

It isn't the priciest dog food out there, and it isn't the most inexpensive either. It seems just about right for our budget. With the money we save on it, we buy Blue wet food and mix it in with the dry food (about a quarter to half a can) to give our dog some variety and a little bit more enjoyment out of the meal.

One of the problems we had with high protein brands like Evo is that she was having a difficult time digesting. I suppose we wouldn't notice if we didn't have to try and pick up after her! Of all the brands we've tried (Orijen, Lotus, Evo, Natural Balance, Ziwi, etc.) this one works the best for us.

"5 star dog food" 2010-05-19
By Yen (TX)
I don't know why reviewers gave this dog food 4 stars without giving any sort of reason as to why. I guess the only negative thing I can think of is the price tag. My dog is allergic to the food dye in other "cheaper" brands of dog food. I did alot of research and tried out alot of organic brands without byproducts or food dyes (or anything bad for a dogs diet for that matter)

This is by far the best dog food you could give your dog. Highly recommended for dogs with or without finicky stomachs.

"Nasty Pill Time Replaced by Special Treat Time!" 2008-04-13
By R. Blalock (Ohio)
My dog was once good about taking pills with a bit of peanut butter. Now that he's on more meds, I've had to up the ante to get him to take the pills. Cheese. Hot dogs. Steak. Most pills got spit out no matter the disguise. (Of course, he eats the good part.) The next tactic involved forcing his mouth open and shoving several pills. Twice a day -- not a bit of fun. My vet recommended trying flavor-doh. Although I hate the smell of it on my hands (easily remedied by soap and water after the fact), "pill time" has become a pleasant ritual. I'm convinced my dog watches the clock. If I'm late with the "new treats" (pills disguised in flavor-doh), he reminds me. Also, I feel better about using this low calorie carrier because my dog is less active now and doesn't need the higher calories of the previous pill disguises.

Putting medicine in Flavor Doh is the only way I can get any of my 3 dogs to take it! I have tried baking chicken, frozen french fries, you name it. They love this product and never hesitate to eat it. The scent seems to mask the smell of the medicine. Thank goodness!

"Caution: extremely dangerous" 2010-05-09
By C. Young
My mom bought these for her three dogs - a Lab puppy, an adult Catahoula, and an adult Shih Tzu. The Shih Tzu did fine with half of the bone. As far as we know, nothing bad happened to him. The Catahoula and Lab puppy (about 8 months old), however, both began vomiting that night. The Catahoula got better, but the Lab puppy continued vomiting all that next day. My mom took the puppy to her regular vet, they took x-rays and recommended she visit an emergency vet clinic because they thought there was an obstruction that needed to be cleared out. The emergency vet clinic did surgery and found that her lymph nodes near her intestines were inflamed, which we figure thickened her intestine wall, making it difficult for food to move through. Finally the Lab puppy is coming home today (she is doing well), but earlier my brother gave my adult Australian Shepherd a tiny (very tiny) piece of the granola bar (at that point we hadn't necessarily thought this was the cause of the vomiting and other problems) and she threw up about 4 hours later. She has a weak stomach, so it isn't surprising that such a small amount might effect her. However, what is shocking is that since so many dogs - do google search: "Purina busy bone recall" and it should be the first result - "Dog Food Review - Purina Busy Bone Dental Treat"; it is a hubpages website) to see more about this - have been sick from Purina busy bones that they do not recall them, change the recipe, or get rid of them all together! (Owners have witnessed such side effects as: vomiting, diarrhea, and seizures!)

Please, please consider your dog(s) well-being before you buy this. Even if your dog is one of the lucky ones that don't seem to be effected by this treat, who knows what undetected damage this does to your dog's health. I also doubt anyone wants to be spending the thousands of dollars that the medical costs of this treat results in.

"WHEN YOU NEED A NAP" 2010-04-21

give these bones to your dog!! my dog is so obsessed!!! he'll leave me alone for 30 minutes and just go to town on the bone! I keep them on my dresser and when he's bored, he walks in my rooms, sits in front of my dresser, and barks and snorts until I give him one (he's such a spoiled brat!) Highly recommend them! they go for about 5 bucks for 2 bones at the grocery store - this is way cheaper.

"Great Product" 2010-04-17
By James J. Dacey Jr. (Istanbul, Turkey (USMC))
My Lab loves these bones. I say Busy Bone and he gets so excited, the sound of the plastic wrapper drives him crazy. They are a bit expensive, considering he is 60 pounds, he finishes each one in about 15-20 minutes. Sometimes, I think he is addicted to these, I might have to check him into B.B.A. (Busy-Bones Anonymous) :)

To sum it up he has never got sick from these (diarrhea, vomiting or seizures), I read about that in another review. If these make him just a bit more happy everyday, the cost is nothing compared to the happiness he brings to my life for the short time he will be here. Love them while their here, for one day they'll be gone.

"A Must Have" 2010-09-01
By Brett L. Colvin (UT USA)
These multi-textured Nylabones are one of the all-time favorites for my dogs. There are certain types including the "Double-Action Chew" variety that have a tendency for big chunks to break off and potentially cause an internal blockage. Personally I have never had that issue with this bone, and the textures seem to be really enjoyable to my dogs. In terms of durability these are very good, and will last through several weeks of abuse by my Vizsla and German Shorthair.

"LONG LASTING" 2010-08-29
By Szes0002
My dogs love this prodcut. They are able to chew it for months and months and months before it is even halfway gone. The fancy ribbing and dots are not a big deal as they get chewed up, which causes the same surface as a regular nylabone - prickley. But still a very good product for the price.

"The ONLY toy for a tough chewer" 2010-08-23
By Travelsize
We have a two year old Min Pin and a four year old Mini Dachshund and this specific Nylabone product is basically the only toy our dogs can play with. They are both extreme chewers, especially the Min Pin. The Dura Chew Plus is made from hard plastic which is perfect. Any other "tough toy" plastic OR rubber is completely shredded by our dogs within hours. Our Min Pin can completely destroy this toy within about four weeks, and although we end up buying a new one every month, it's a relief to have a safe toy which she can't 1) eat the stuffing 2) swallow small parts (the small pieces of plastic pass through just fine).

"NOT FOR MAJOR CHEWERS" 2010-05-07
By L. Kemer
My 1 year old is a very rough chewer. Most bones don't last 1 or 2 days. This one is still around 1 month later but the ends are mostly chewed off. I've had to pick up pieces of it. I will have to take it away soon.

"If you have to give Pills, Pill Pockets is THE BOMB"
 2010-07-25
By L. WOS (Michigan USA)
If you own a dog or cat( yes, they make them for felines too)........this is the greatest stuff. My doggies (5 German Shorthaired Pointers) used to line up each morning for their pill "treats". They liked both chicken and beef flavors. Chicken seems to be more elastic and wraps around the pills better. Beef, unless sealed tightly, tend to dry out more. This has been a staple in our house for many years, until our last pooch crossed the rainbow bridge last Christmas. But when we adopt our next pooch, and if he/she needs medications,....... Pill Pockets will again find a home with us.

"Good price for product"
 2010-07-20
By Jennifer A. Walker (Franktown, CO USA)
These are a GREAT way to give pills. I break one large in half to make them last longer. The small size is not a better way to do that, since there are fewer in the bag than if you buy the big ones and tear them in half. Good price per bag when you buy them as a 6-pack.

"Pill Pockets are great!"
 2010-04-07
By Soup Critic (Vista, California)
We have seven very picky dogs, all of whom are rescues and most of whom are on permanent medications. Before Pill Pockets, we tried everything from simply pushing it down their throat Veterinarian style to wrapping it in peanut butter (what a mess). With Pill Pockets, however, we just put the capsule or tablet inside and the dogs love them; so much so that when anyone gets a pill, everyone else crowds around trying to get one too. If you have dogs or cats that need to take oral medications, you can't do better than Pill Pockets.

"Healthy and Happy dog" 2010-06-03
By E. Martin (Dallas, TX USA)
I have a collie and always am on the lookout for good quality food for her. I don't mind spending a little more for better products especially since my dog's health and overall happiness is my responsibility, and this all begins with good nutrition. The quality of the dog food seems exceptional. You can see the bits of fruits and vegetables in the mix and the first ingredient is chicken. I was expecting a "meatier" smell, though, but perhaps this is due to a lack of artificial ingredients or additives that other dog food brands put in their mix to be more appealing to the dog.

My dog showed no concern for switching this food with her normal brand (Royal Canine). I switched gradually since my dog has always had a sensitive stomach. She is not a picky eater by any means and gobbles this right up. I have been feeding her straight Castor and Pollux Ultramix for about a month. The only difference I have noticed is that she goes to the bathroom more frequently than she has with other foods. Is this good or bad? I am not sure. Seems healthy to have a functional digestive system, but perhaps the food is not as digestible as I hoped. Her coat looks great and she has not displayed any signs of an upset stomach or flatulence. She seems excited to receive the food and eats it all in a single setting.

I think the food is great because it is natural, healthy and offers really good, quality ingredients. Every bowl is slightly different as well depending on the fruits and vegetables scooped during that one meal. I think this adds subtle variety as opposed to having the exact same meal day after day.

The only drawbacks (if you find them as such) that I have found is that it is very necessary to keep the food stored in an airtight container. It will dry out and fade slightly in color. I don't think it becomes harmful but certainly looks and feels that it is not as good. I keep a large airtight container that has a small flap on the lid for scooping. Any pet store carries them like Petco or PetSmart. The only thing I found a little odd is the size of the kibbles. They are tiny like pebble-sized. I checked to make sure I didn't accidently buy a small bites or small dog variety and it wasn't the case. This is the standard kibble size. My dog doesn't mind or have a problem with the tiny kibbles but she is not getting the benefit of chewing larger pieces such as scraping tarter off her teeth. I simply added bones to the mix that focus on teeth cleaning and it works just fine.

"The dogs love it and I love the ingredients" 2010-06-02
By PT Cruiser (CA USA)
We ordered the Weight Management version of this dog food because we have two overweight long haired Dachshunds and wanted to get them to a more healthy weight. We had been feeding them canned food, a few different brands, all high quality. We wanted a dry food to help their teeth stay clean and a product with good ingredients and not a lot of corn was essential. Since Amazon doesn't show it, here are the ingredients for the Castor & Pollux Weight Management Formula:

Chicken, Chicken Meal, Turkey Meal, Brown Rice, Rice, Ground Whole Oats, Ground Whole Barley, Dried Bananas, Peas, Tomato Pomace, Chicken Fat (Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid), Ground Whole Flax Seed, Brewers Dried Yeast, Dried Potato, mono-Calcium Phosphate, Natural chicken Flavor, Dried Carrots, Dried Sweet Potatoes, Salmon Meal, Dried Egg Product, Dried Cranberries, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Zinc Sulfate, Vitamin E Supplement, Chondroitin Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Choline Chloride, Niacin, Carnitine, Copper Sulfate, Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Manganous Oxide, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Sodium Selenite, Riboflavin, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Calcium Iodate, Folic Acid, Rosemary Extract,

I like that the first three ingredients are meat and that the rest look healthy. The dogs love it, and that's the important thing. I'll report back after a couple months on whether or not they've lost weight. (We're also cutting out all the extra treats except for baby carrots and green beans.)

"Far superior to Science Diet" 2010-04-09
By T. Edwards (Wetumpka, AL)
The ingredients in C&P Weight Maintenance, while not perfect, are far superior to Science Diet RD & WD. In addition it costs less then SD and Amazon has the best price of any company I've found. Science Diet makes nutritionally bankrupt products in all cases. The high cost is so the manufacturer and veterinarian can make a profit. Only a minimal amount of money goes into the product itself. It is like buying Ol Roy with drugs. You are basically feeding your dogs cardboard.

"only dog food on the market to meet all my requirements!" 2010-07-14
By Boston Chick
I feel this is the best prepared food you can buy for your dog.

It is:

100% grain free (which is great whether or not your dog has allergies b/c dogs were never meant to be eating grains)
organic
human-grade
tested (each batch) for E. coli and Salmonella
Another significant feature for me was that the animals killed to make the food were all raised free-range and as humanely as possible.

My 4 yr old puggle was already a healthy and happy dog, but I noticed within a few weeks after starting the diet that her coat became AMAZINGLY soft....even the wiry beagle hairs striping her back! Although it's not an incredibly important outcome, it showed me that this food is so much better for her than even the best dry food diet could ever be.

I am not affiliated with the company in any way. I simply love dogs and think they deserve the best we can give them and that most info out there on dog food is misleading or lacking.

"A Healthier, Happier Dog on Raw Organic!" 2010-02-14
By Verdigris (East Coast)
In re: Paw Naturaw Organic Chicken Diet
ALL the dry foods gave our pup bloating and gas, even the premium brands. After more research we found out what's *really* in dry dog food and decided to change his diet to raw food. We'd supplement the Paw Naturaw with Soj*s, Honest Kitch*n, and home-prepared veggies and fruits.

Pros: even with the quick, 3-day changeover onto Naturaw our pup had no issues: no diarrhea, no bloating, and now, absolutely no more gas! He also used to have bad "doggy odor," even after a bath. On the raw diet he has a cleaner scent. His stools are normal. He also has more energy and he's more even-tempered. He's eager to eat, whereas on dry food there'd be days he'd refuse to eat and would be moody.

Cons: raw, organic, dog food does cost more per pound than kibble. Shipping through Amazon.com helps offset the cost a bit. Feeding raw takes a little more planning and prep, but it's simple: just thaw overnight, mix, and weigh out portions for the day in covered glass or ceramic containers. Takes no more than 10-15 min. Having a small digital scale and several bowls on hand helps.

We're thinking long-term and feel that his health and well-being are worth giving up the convenience and lower cost of kibble. If we'd known about raw feeding before we wouldn't have fed him kibble at all. We saw the stark contrast between the results of raw vs. processed food.
In short: our pup has more energy, and is healthier and happier on a raw diet. The results speak for themselves and we hope that Paw Naturaw keeps up the good work.

Note: We have no connection to Paw Naturaw or the other companies mentioned.

"Paw Naturaw nuggets for dogs" 2009-07-04
By C. Holifield (Idaho Panhandle)
My four scotties love this food. We lost three other scotties to cancer; our girl was only 8. I began researching diets ("See Spot Live Longer" by Steve Brown, available from Amazon.com), and have come to believe that a "bones and raw food" diet was worth a try. Paw Naturaw has a wonderful list of ingredients, including ground bones, organic meat, veggies and fruits. It's pricey for four dogs, so I supplement with a good dry food ("Taste of the Wild"). I've ordered twice, and both times the shipping was free, fast and frozen. I appreciated the philosophy of the company and will continue to order Paw Naturaw.

I have two dogs. One is a Chihuahua and the other is a Rat Terrier. They love the food but the only thing is that it has to be warmed up. They have been on the food for one month now and the Rat Terrier's allergies seem to be better. He isn't licking himself for hours. I have ordered the chicken and turkey.

There are no vegetables in this food.

Cesar has repeatedly stated that his entire goal in coming to the United States was to go to Hollywood and be famous. I think that that focus on fame (and money) is apparent in his approach to dog food: Give crummy food nice packaging and an appealing name.

That one's dog will eat it is no advertisement. First, the only thing one really has to do to sell dog food is make it so the dogs will eat it. That the dog will eat it is no measure of the quality or benefit of the food. Dogs eat anything--including manure, which is part of this food as the meat flavoring.

"WAY TOO EXPENSIVE !!!!"

My little rat terrier will only eat Little Cesar--- For the last 5 years I have bought these small cups of food.
I pay at my local grocer .68 per carton..... The 12 pack boxes are always 7.99....
This deal makes them nearly $ 1.00 per carton.
wish it would be 48 cartons--- then it would be a great deal but not for 12.
NO THANK YOU !!!

Cesar Canine Cuisine Varety Pack Food Review
Grade: A

I was questionable about buying these at first, seeing that I'd be paying a dollar for an incredibly small meal my miniture dobermans would surely eat up in a minute. So I took a chance and bought the 12 pack-which includes Filet Mignon and Porterhouse Steak flavors-and my dogs ate them up! Yes, they did eat them fairly quickly, but I found that mixing two of the dinners and a big bowl full of dry food will still be tasty enough for them. Do that, and you'll get more use out of these-dogs seem to like their flavor. So although they aren't that healthy for dogs everyday (I made sure to read the inredients on the back), they're perfect for a snack or to mix with dinner.
