"If you have to give Pills, Pill Pockets is THE BOMB"
 2010-07-25
By L. WOS (Michigan USA)
If you own a dog or cat( yes, they make them for felines too)........this is the greatest stuff. My doggies (5 German Shorthaired Pointers) used to line up each morning for their pill "treats". They liked both chicken and beef flavors. Chicken seems to be more elastic and wraps around the pills better. Beef, unless sealed tightly, tend to dry out more. This has been a staple in our house for many years, until our last pooch crossed the rainbow bridge last Christmas. But when we adopt our next pooch, and if he/she needs medications,....... Pill Pockets will again find a home with us.

"Good price for product"

By Jennifer A. Walker (Franktown, CO USA)
These are a GREAT way to give pills. I break one large in half to make them last longer. The small size is not a better way to do that, since there are fewer in the bag than if you buy the big ones and tear them in half. Good price per bag when you buy them as a 6-pack.

"Pill Pockets are great!"
 2010-04-07
By Soup Critic (Vista, California)
We have seven very picky dogs, all of whom are rescues and most of whom are on permanent medications. Before Pill Pockets, we tried everything from simply pushing it down their throat Veterinarian style to wrapping it in peanut butter (what a mess). With Pill Pockets, however, we just put the capsule or tablet inside and the dogs love them; so much so that when anyone gets a pill, everyone else crowds around trying to get one too. If you have dogs or cats that need to take oral medications, you can't do better than Pill Pockets.

"Dog Likes It" 2010-09-04

Got this for our recently adopted 3 year old Corgi. We feed him twice a day; once with this food alone and the other time mixing it with a wet food. He gobbles it up, either alone or mixed. Appears to be of decent quality.

"Healthy and Happy dog" 2010-06-03
By E. Martin (Dallas, TX USA)
I have a collie and always am on the lookout for good quality food for her. I don't mind spending a little more for better products especially since my dog's health and overall happiness is my responsibility, and this all begins with good nutrition. The quality of the dog food seems exceptional. You can see the bits of fruits and vegetables in the mix and the first ingredient is chicken. I was expecting a "meatier" smell, though, but perhaps this is due to a lack of artificial ingredients or additives that other dog food brands put in their mix to be more appealing to the dog.

My dog showed no concern for switching this food with her normal brand (Royal Canine). I switched gradually since my dog has always had a sensitive stomach. She is not a picky eater by any means and gobbles this right up. I have been feeding her straight Castor and Pollux Ultramix for about a month. The only difference I have noticed is that she goes to the bathroom more frequently than she has with other foods. Is this good or bad? I am not sure. Seems healthy to have a functional digestive system, but perhaps the food is not as digestible as I hoped. Her coat looks great and she has not displayed any signs of an upset stomach or flatulence. She seems excited to receive the food and eats it all in a single setting.

I think the food is great because it is natural, healthy and offers really good, quality ingredients. Every bowl is slightly different as well depending on the fruits and vegetables scooped during that one meal. I think this adds subtle variety as opposed to having the exact same meal day after day.

The only drawbacks (if you find them as such) that I have found is that it is very necessary to keep the food stored in an airtight container. It will dry out and fade slightly in color. I don't think it becomes harmful but certainly looks and feels that it is not as good. I keep a large airtight container that has a small flap on the lid for scooping. Any pet store carries them like Petco or PetSmart. The only thing I found a little odd is the size of the kibbles. They are tiny like pebble-sized. I checked to make sure I didn't accidently buy a small bites or small dog variety and it wasn't the case. This is the standard kibble size. My dog doesn't mind or have a problem with the tiny kibbles but she is not getting the benefit of chewing larger pieces such as scraping tarter off her teeth. I simply added bones to the mix that focus on teeth cleaning and it works just fine.

"The dogs love it and I love the ingredients" 2010-06-02
By PT Cruiser (CA USA)
We ordered the Weight Management version of this dog food because we have two overweight long haired Dachshunds and wanted to get them to a more healthy weight. We had been feeding them canned food, a few different brands, all high quality. We wanted a dry food to help their teeth stay clean and a product with good ingredients and not a lot of corn was essential. Since Amazon doesn't show it, here are the ingredients for the Castor & Pollux Weight Management Formula:

Chicken, Chicken Meal, Turkey Meal, Brown Rice, Rice, Ground Whole Oats, Ground Whole Barley, Dried Bananas, Peas, Tomato Pomace, Chicken Fat (Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid), Ground Whole Flax Seed, Brewers Dried Yeast, Dried Potato, mono-Calcium Phosphate, Natural chicken Flavor, Dried Carrots, Dried Sweet Potatoes, Salmon Meal, Dried Egg Product, Dried Cranberries, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Zinc Sulfate, Vitamin E Supplement, Chondroitin Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Choline Chloride, Niacin, Carnitine, Copper Sulfate, Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Manganous Oxide, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Sodium Selenite, Riboflavin, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Calcium Iodate, Folic Acid, Rosemary Extract,

I like that the first three ingredients are meat and that the rest look healthy. The dogs love it, and that's the important thing. I'll report back after a couple months on whether or not they've lost weight. (We're also cutting out all the extra treats except for baby carrots and green beans.)

"Far superior to Science Diet" 2010-04-09
By T. Edwards (Wetumpka, AL)
The ingredients in C&P Weight Maintenance, while not perfect, are far superior to Science Diet RD & WD. In addition it costs less then SD and Amazon has the best price of any company I've found. Science Diet makes nutritionally bankrupt products in all cases. The high cost is so the manufacturer and veterinarian can make a profit. Only a minimal amount of money goes into the product itself. It is like buying Ol Roy with drugs. You are basically feeding your dogs cardboard.

"only dog food on the market to meet all my requirements!" 2010-07-14
By Boston Chick
I feel this is the best prepared food you can buy for your dog.

It is:

100% grain free (which is great whether or not your dog has allergies b/c dogs were never meant to be eating grains)
organic
human-grade
tested (each batch) for E. coli and Salmonella
Another significant feature for me was that the animals killed to make the food were all raised free-range and as humanely as possible.

My 4 yr old puggle was already a healthy and happy dog, but I noticed within a few weeks after starting the diet that her coat became AMAZINGLY soft....even the wiry beagle hairs striping her back! Although it's not an incredibly important outcome, it showed me that this food is so much better for her than even the best dry food diet could ever be.

I am not affiliated with the company in any way. I simply love dogs and think they deserve the best we can give them and that most info out there on dog food is misleading or lacking.

"A Healthier, Happier Dog on Raw Organic!" 2010-02-14
By Verdigris (East Coast)
In re: Paw Naturaw Organic Chicken Diet
ALL the dry foods gave our pup bloating and gas, even the premium brands. After more research we found out what's *really* in dry dog food and decided to change his diet to raw food. We'd supplement the Paw Naturaw with Soj*s, Honest Kitch*n, and home-prepared veggies and fruits.

Pros: even with the quick, 3-day changeover onto Naturaw our pup had no issues: no diarrhea, no bloating, and now, absolutely no more gas! He also used to have bad "doggy odor," even after a bath. On the raw diet he has a cleaner scent. His stools are normal. He also has more energy and he's more even-tempered. He's eager to eat, whereas on dry food there'd be days he'd refuse to eat and would be moody.

Cons: raw, organic, dog food does cost more per pound than kibble. Shipping through Amazon.com helps offset the cost a bit. Feeding raw takes a little more planning and prep, but it's simple: just thaw overnight, mix, and weigh out portions for the day in covered glass or ceramic containers. Takes no more than 10-15 min. Having a small digital scale and several bowls on hand helps.

We're thinking long-term and feel that his health and well-being are worth giving up the convenience and lower cost of kibble. If we'd known about raw feeding before we wouldn't have fed him kibble at all. We saw the stark contrast between the results of raw vs. processed food.
In short: our pup has more energy, and is healthier and happier on a raw diet. The results speak for themselves and we hope that Paw Naturaw keeps up the good work.

Note: We have no connection to Paw Naturaw or the other companies mentioned.

"Paw Naturaw nuggets for dogs" 2009-07-04
By C. Holifield (Idaho Panhandle)
My four scotties love this food. We lost three other scotties to cancer; our girl was only 8. I began researching diets ("See Spot Live Longer" by Steve Brown, available from Amazon.com), and have come to believe that a "bones and raw food" diet was worth a try. Paw Naturaw has a wonderful list of ingredients, including ground bones, organic meat, veggies and fruits. It's pricey for four dogs, so I supplement with a good dry food ("Taste of the Wild"). I've ordered twice, and both times the shipping was free, fast and frozen. I appreciated the philosophy of the company and will continue to order Paw Naturaw.

I have two dogs. One is a Chihuahua and the other is a Rat Terrier. They love the food but the only thing is that it has to be warmed up. They have been on the food for one month now and the Rat Terrier's allergies seem to be better. He isn't licking himself for hours. I have ordered the chicken and turkey.

There are no vegetables in this food.

Cesar has repeatedly stated that his entire goal in coming to the United States was to go to Hollywood and be famous. I think that that focus on fame (and money) is apparent in his approach to dog food: Give crummy food nice packaging and an appealing name.

That one's dog will eat it is no advertisement. First, the only thing one really has to do to sell dog food is make it so the dogs will eat it. That the dog will eat it is no measure of the quality or benefit of the food. Dogs eat anything--including manure, which is part of this food as the meat flavoring.

"WAY TOO EXPENSIVE !!!!"

My little rat terrier will only eat Little Cesar--- For the last 5 years I have bought these small cups of food.
I pay at my local grocer .68 per carton..... The 12 pack boxes are always 7.99....
This deal makes them nearly $ 1.00 per carton.
wish it would be 48 cartons--- then it would be a great deal but not for 12.
NO THANK YOU !!!

Cesar Canine Cuisine Varety Pack Food Review
Grade: A

I was questionable about buying these at first, seeing that I'd be paying a dollar for an incredibly small meal my miniture dobermans would surely eat up in a minute. So I took a chance and bought the 12 pack-which includes Filet Mignon and Porterhouse Steak flavors-and my dogs ate them up! Yes, they did eat them fairly quickly, but I found that mixing two of the dinners and a big bowl full of dry food will still be tasty enough for them. Do that, and you'll get more use out of these-dogs seem to like their flavor. So although they aren't that healthy for dogs everyday (I made sure to read the inredients on the back), they're perfect for a snack or to mix with dinner.

Have 2 huskies and a shephard/sheltie. All like these bones. Bonus to me is that it keeps them busy for more than a couple of minutes. I deal with a dog with sever allergies - no ingredients are a problem in these bones for us.
